Leaving his home country of Zimbabwe, it was important to Marcus to find a university in the United States that felt familiar, and that would help him prepare to pursue his professional goals as a graphic designer. Growing up in a Catholic household, Ohio Dominican jumped out at him as being a place where he could grow in his faith while pursuing a degree. For Marcus, ODU would quickly feel like home, and it wasn’t long before he found himself part of a tight-knit family. He immersed himself in the campus community by attending Mass regularly, participated in campus events and activities, and competed on ODU’s track and field team.
Marcus says he was able to grow exponentially during his time at Ohio Dominican academically, personally and spiritually. As he shares, “My faith wasn’t as strong before because I relied a lot on my parents’ faith, but when I came to Ohio Dominican University, I began to develop my own faith and I was able to see things clearly.” He says ODU helped to guide him on the right path, and he’s grateful for the support received throughout his studies. As he puts it, “I believe that because I came to Ohio Dominican, my future is bright.”
